I’M IN the process of shifting gears and concentrating heavily on finishing both my novella TO BE FRIENDS and the zombie novella WB Welch and I are co-writing, and I’m getting nervous.
I’ve been in the writing community for almost exactly three months now, and on Twitter only a few days more than that. Before I found this place, I didn’t have anyone to talk to about my writing, short of a friend or two who would beta read for me and provide very little feedback–more like a pat on the head and a, “Great effort, champ!” I was alone with it.
If not for WB, I would still be alone with it. She’s the only one in the community who’s read anything substantial from me, but now that’s about to change.
Yesterday I hit 8,000 followers on Twitter, and I’m sure at least two or three among you will buy one of these novellas when they come out. What’s worse is that you’ll actually read it. After three months of obnoxiously kicking and screaming my way into this community of writers without actually sharing any of my work (fiction, I mean), I’m now going to ante up.
Our tentative plan is to release the zombie novella in late May, with a cover, title, and blurb reveal in April. As for TO BE FRIENDS, more information about its release will be coming soon.
I’m ridiculously excited, but at the same time I want to delete my account and move to Alaska.
