I’VE COME to a decision. I’m not going to suspend free query critiques. Instead, I’m going to limit how many I accept.
Here’s how:
I’ll critique a couple queries a day, maybe more on days when I have down time, and when they start to pile up, I’ll just stop accepting them until I’ve cleared them out.
This way I won’t find myself spending hours upon hours critiquing queries only to be disheartened when half or more writers fail to so much as respond with a thank you. If it’s just a couple a day, I won’t be so affected by it. I do love critiquing queries, and I love helping writers!
All that said, if you want to guarantee that I critique your query, and if you want to go to the front of the line, you can send me $10+ (up to you) via PayPal (frecklepeoplepartyATgmail) and let me know you’ve done so when you paste your query in the form on the Contact page.
So keep ’em comin’. And remember that this is a faith-based system. You will be invited to tip, with no obligation to do so. If it stops being worth it, I’ll shut it down later and start charging up front.
That’s all regarding queries! I want to remain focused on manuscript critiques for the most part. I’ve decided to extend my 20% discount offer until I’m booked the rest of the way through March. If you’re interested, get in touch, and hurry because the offer will expire like milk left on the counter.
With love,
Tory
I like it.
Such a system allows you to continue to put yourself out there as a resource for anyone who needs it, while incentivizing people to interact with you about their queries because the freebies are so limited.

Great idea! I hope you find a happy medium. You are so helpful. I don’t have a query to give you. But I still appreciate you!

I just stumbled upon this on Twitter and had no idea anyone offered a service like this. It’s genius! I will definitely be following up with a query 🙂
Thanks!
