Into a Foggy Night

IT’S LATE. I don’t usually post this late. It’s been raining all day and now the street lights are setting the fog aglow. I have a window right by my bed and I stare out it when I can’t sleep.

I’ve decided I’m taking a break from Twitter. A few days maybe. I have manuscripts to finish critiquing and manuscripts to finish writing. On top of that, I’ve bought a ton of books lately due to the generosity of people whose query letters I’ve critiqued, and I want to start diving into them.

The more I think about it, the more it feels like a vacation. To be lost in other worlds for a while. I’m going to miss the writing community while I’m gone, but it’s with your books that I set sail, and I shall return having read and read and read. That’s what writers want, to be read. Reading is the best way to be a supportive member of the writing community.

I need to refocus on my own work too. At least an hour or two a day. I’ve been caught up in the excitement of finding this big group of writers to talk to, but I have to remind myself that it’s not going anywhere, that it’s okay to get used to it. It’s okay to step away for a few days and reorient myself. I guess I’m just not used to having this much access to conversation. I’m sorry if I’m ever overbearing. I just can’t get enough of it.

I’ll still be posting here on my blog. That will make up for the lack of tweeting. I’ll be around tomorrow and we’ll finish up the giveaway. After that I’m going to disappear into a foggy night.

With love,
